The CEO: Trina

Trina began her career in the veterinary industry in 1986. She started as a kennel attendant while she was going to college to study veterinary medicine with the dream of having a ranch one day. The manager of that clinic taught her what to do, and each day, she completed her tasks, and she learned new skills from the owner’s veterinarian. As a result of her desire to learn new skills and complete her tasks in a timely manner, she was quickly promoted by the veterinarian from kennel attendant to veterinary assistant, to receptionist, accounts receivable manager, and finally to manager.

Trina has worked in every position and area of a veterinary hospital, including human resources, accounts payable, inventory, pharmacy, payroll verification, and vendor contracts, as well as licensing, permits, loan applications, and hospital start-up and construction. The most important things she has learned in her 38 years in the industry are the following:

  • Google does not know the answer to what is wrong with your pets.
  • Pet stores and breeders quite often give incorrect information, especially when it comes to proper diet and husbandry (enclosures, cages, bedding, temperature, humidity, and lighting).
  • Just because the pet has papers does not make it purebred.
  • Owners do not always give all the medicine the vet prescribes.
  • Owners cannot always afford the treatment the veterinarian recommends.
  • Telemedicine does not allow veterinarians to accurately diagnose your pet.
  • If you decline diagnostics, the veterinarian can only guess what is wrong with your pet.
  • Veterinarians “practice medicine,” which means what works for one pet may not work for another, and second opinions with another veterinarian may be recommended to try a different approach.

These are just a sample of why Trina stayed in the industry for so long—her love for all animals, birds, reptiles, and wildlife and her desire to educate owners on proper cages, bedding, diet, exercise, yearly wellness visits, and lab work, and the actual costs and time needed to properly care for these pets.

Every pet she has owned during her 38-year career she has acquired from the clinics she worked at. All of them the owner wanted to euthanize, or the pet was found by a client in a parking lot and the owner never came back for it.

These are God’s creatures; they have a purpose and are a gift to us. Her purpose is to help owners understand the diet, care, money, and time the pets need.
